This session - what a joy!

When I first started this photography journey, my heart was really after capturing all of the "real" moments of life.  So often, we look at photography and think it is only about posed portraits with cheesy smiles.

To me, photography is about whatever you hold dear in life and remembering that.  As I have gotten a little further into my business, I have struggled with that fine line of "real" and "posed."  However, this fun, equine session on a family farm near my own home completely erased that barrier of posed portraits and brought out the fun side of photography that means so much to me.

To say that this fun evening on the farm spoke to the creative side of my heart would be an understatement.

Having been born and raised with horses and growing up on a farm, this session was already near and dear to my heart.  What made it even more special was the sweet woman I was spending the evening with.  Liana and her family are dear friends of my husband and now to me.  It is such an honor marrying into a family that holds close relationships like this one and I can't speak to how truly valuable it is to still have friends like these.

In the past three years, I have spent a lot of time on this beautiful farm and with this wonderful family.  When Liana asked if I would take some pictures of her and her horses, I was truly honored.

If you have visited this wonderful piece of land, you know how picturesque it is.  As you travel down the small back road of Tuscarawas county leading to this beautiful farm, you quickly come upon a small driveway, veering off to the left hand side and down into hidden paradise.  The moment you enter the drive the beautiful, historically old tree covering the drive welcomes you with it's beautiful foliage.  This time of year the red and gold leaves are truly like a picture of fall perfection.  As you continue down the drive, it is like entering a children's picture book.  A red farmhouse and matching barn are strategically positioned underneath a wooden hillside and overlooking a valley of green.

The large pasture is home to two horses, several cows, and an adorable donkey.  However, the star of the show was the cutest little black and white goat who roams freely with this canine companions as his mom takes on the duty of barn and farm chores.

I loved wandering these hillsides with Liana and her mare who finished the evening with a perfectly mannered bow.  As a final treat of the night, Liana brought out her overwhelmingly tall gelding who fell in love with my camera at once.

It was such a treat spending this beautiful evening on the farm and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I have!
