Millersburg Ohio Maternity Portrait Session

Something a little different is gracing the blog this morning, and I’m here for it. I recently announced that Portrait Sessions are making a comeback on a very limited basis, and I couldn’t be more excited to launch this new area of my business with this particular session. First, because these portraits are simply stunning. Everything from the colors (I mean her green is a perfect match to my branding, #heygirlhey) to the lighting and location. At one point during the session I quite literally said “this is the magic shot!” and I was right… it really was. Second, because I had the opportunity to take these maternity portraits for my lifelong friend who is pregnant with her first baby. Photography is the gift that keeps on giving! While I was excited for her to have these portraits as a gift in the form of memories made, it was honestly a gift to me and a joy to take them!

The entire session took place at Rachel’s home, and due to the current virus, it was the first time I was able to see the nursery aside from quick iPhone snaps she had sent me while decorating. Side note: let’s just take a moment to touch on the fact that having a baby during this chaos is obviously less than ideal, so shout out to the Mama’s who are making hard decisions to keep themselves, their families and their babies safe! Ok back to the session. We didn’t spend a lot of time focused on the nursery itself, because I’ll be doing a follow up Newborn Session once the baby arrives. But I can tell you, it’s a Pinterest worthy nursery if there ever was one. Not because it’s elaborate or expensive, but because it’s simple, tastefully done, and focuses entirely on the details. As a girl who loves green, this was just a session after my own heart. We moved out of the nursery and into Rachel’s side yard, where the open fields surrounding her house were the perfect backdrop for the majority of the photos. Photographer’s, you are not limited by ONE great location. As long as the lighting is right, there is so much that you can do. To finish up, I knew we had to include the landscaping, one of Rachel’s joys this summer while she spent a lot of time at home preparing for this little one! As a fellow “cottage gardening” fan, I was thrilled to see the varied mix of herbs, sunflowers, and wildflowers sprinkled throughout the landscaping and it gave this gallery just that perfect touch.

I hope you enjoy this maternity session as much as I did and I can’t wait to have more beautiful Mama’s grace the blog soon!
